Representatives of the Trnava Self-Governing Region, Jelka Municipality and the Homeland Museum of Galanta on 18th of May 2019 officially opened the reconstructed Water Mill in Jelka and the revitalized area of the Open-Air Museum at the Water Mill in Jelka and made it available for the public.
Reconstruction works and revitalization of the area were realized within the project “Discover the Small and Moson Danube by bike and boat”, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within Cooperation Program Interreg V-A Slovak Republic - Hungary (project code: SKHU/1601/1.1/014). Reconstruction work on the water mill covered all important parts of the mill, such as securing static of the building, returning the roof to its original shape, building barrier-free entry, cleaning, preserving and treating wooden parts of the building. Electrical installation work included the installation of lighting, lightning conductor, camera system, electronic security system and electronic fire alarm. As part of the revitalization of the Open-Air Museum, the building of the guard service - the information center was renewed, new premises were created for the exhibits of the Open-Air Museum, pavements were adjusted and access for disabled people was also provided.

Part of the opening ceremony was the GREEN WEEK event organized by the Hungarian project partner (Mosonmagyaróvár Municipality).
The water mill and Open-Air Museum are open every day from 10:00 to 18:00.
