Improving the level of cooperation of two cross-border hospitals in the field of gastroenterology

The Regional Hospital in Lučenec (SR) and the Szent Lázár County Hospital in Salgotarján (HU) are located in the Slovak-Hungarian border region. Distance between them are less than 40 km.
Main objective of the project is to improve the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases in the target area of Banská Bystrica and Nógrád region.
At present, there is a lack of specialized clinics in the field of gastroenterology and a high number of patients whose diagnosis requires gastroenterological examination.
The improvement of the situation in the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases in the target area is based on three pillars:
* improvement of technological equipment
* increase the professional capacity of doctors
* cooperation and exchange of information and knowledge
By purchasing new technological equipment, we will improve and speed up the diagnostic process and thus reduce the waiting time for the patient's examination. At the same time, the costs of repairs and maintenance of existing equipment will be reduced. 
Cross-border cooperation of hospitals will affect the development of professional capacities, exchange of experience and implementation of the latest knowledge in practice in the field of gastroenterology. 
The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of cross-border healthcare at the regional and local level, the end user of which will be the patient.
