The potential of the Hornád River is unexploited, the region is undiscovered and only a small percentage of tourists use the Hornád River for cross-border tourism. In addition, there is a lack of cooperation between local actors.

The main goal of the project is to connect the Košice self-governing region and the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén Megye and use the potential of the Hornád river as a water tourist route by creating a kayak-canoeing sharing system. As part of the project, access infrastructure will be built along the Hornád River (exit / entry ports), kayaks, canoes and storage containers will be purchased, and small infrastructure - rest areas - will also be built. In addition, the project will create a bike-sharing system, which will complement the eco-tourism services offered in the region.

On the Slovak side, Veľká Lodina will reconstruct its park, which will also serve as a rest area, Trstené pri Hornáde will create a street work-out area and Kostoľany nad Hornádom will build a pumptrack.

On the Hungarian side, the village of Hernádkércs will create a boat house where users of the kayak-canoeing sharing system will be able to rest or stay overnight. Accommodation capacities within the project will also be provided by Kmetty Benjámin, who will build wooden houses in Nagykinizs directly at the Hernád river bank and VÉDÉPSZOLG KFT. will create rural ecological accommodation capacities in Felsődobsza.

In Hidasnémeti, a part of the building owned by the municipality will be renovated, where an information office will be created, which will serve as the first contact point for tourists entering the Hungarian side of the Hornád River. The village of Hernádszentandrás will renovate their old building, which will serve as an Eco-summer school and a lifestyle center for children and young people.

The implementation of the project is expected to improve jointly provided cross-border services in the field of ecotourism and increase the number of visitors in the region.
