Between 2011 and 2013, the Municipality of Hercegkút finished the development of infrastructure of its World Heritage Wine Cellars. With the SKHU 1902 construction, the municipality planned the integrated development of the wine tour between the two rows of wine cellars Kőporos and Gomboshegy. The municipality will create a tour organizing information point, a tourist house, a promenade connecting the two hills of cellars, a parking lot, a wine tour map and a brochure. The project will result in the increase of visitor numbers of the two sites, broadening of the current supply structure of the area (that is primarily based on wine festivals), extension of time spent at the attractions and improvement of tourist services (and wineries) along the wine route and market position of the attractions.
The partner organization of the project is the municipality of Malý Horeš, that previously built a wine bar, a promenade and a community space in the period between 2011 and 2013. The aim of the new project is to provide appropriate tools and material for wine tourism and cultural programs along historic wine cellars (wine promenade). The content of the project includes the construction of environmentally fitting changing rooms and rest rooms (for the visitors and wine tasters) next to the currently existing amphitheatre. Another key element of the project is the reconstruction of ill-conditioned or incomplete dirt roads leading up to the two hundred historic cellars of small-scale wine manufacturers, into paved wine promenades. In addition to the developments above would be the construction of a gastro-pavilion that fits into the natural surroundings of the forested cellar hill.
As a result of the project, the traditional cultural and gastronomic offer of the municipalities of Hercegkút and Malý Horeš will be enriched with attractive and functional elements. These will increase the relationship between regional actors as wine producers, municipalities and cultural groupings.
